We had such a great day in the workshop last week with the planting design course.
We looked at different soil types and how to identify them, planting design principles which included colour, form, pattern and texture. The mood board is always a big hit – who wouldn’t love the chance to flick through gardening magazines and really explore what it is they want from their garden? This time the group chose to work on their own planting plans in the afternoon with the expert help of Sophie who advised them. The scale rules, plant books and pencils were out!
A fantastic day..best quote was…’wow…there really is quite a lot to think about!’ The next course is on Tuesday 19th May, all details on the site.
‘Mummy for my birthday party can I have painting, cake pops and a cake covered in sweets!’ Music to my ears.
11 little girls carefully painted individual bird houses I had found for only a couple of pounds each. In their natural MDF they looked a bit cheap but with a coat of Water Lane Paint – Cotswold White Star they were transformed and it was a fantastic base colour to show off the little artists colourful patterns.
Maybe a good Easter gift for anyone in the family not wanting too much chocolate?
The cake pops and the subsequent sugar rush brought the afternoon up to the frenzy a kids party should be!
January….When the decorations are down and its quiet again – I write my list of all the ‘house things’ I want to do in the year – painting the dining room chairs, making the children’s rooms look more like something from the Little White Company than a Bric a Brack stall…build some colour into the garden. To help you form a plan I have set the workshop dates out for the year and what’s more there is £5 off each course booked before Friday 23rd Jan. They are all listed on the website on the dates page.
Go on – seize the moment and learn a new skill for 2015.
I had to use my letters to spell out sale – and now they are here I should introduce them. They are 30cm tall, can stand or be hung and come in any of the Waterlane paint colours. £15 each (excluding p and p). They are great for children’s doors or a letter wall!
